How-To: Upload a new model

Note: Registration is required in order to add and modify open models!

In order to start a new entry at the top-level, e.g. open models for a new context or domain, just log in and click on Add Open Model.

You can now choose between two types of entries: You can add an open model by either using the model template or using free text.

If you have only one model to contribute for a certain context, we suggest you directly use the model template. It provides you a structure to describe your model (see below).
If the model template does not fit for an appropiate description of your model, you may use the free text template.

As you are able to nest your contributions, e.g. several models related to the same context, and build up a hierarchy, it may be usefull to use the free text for an introduction and common description of the models that follow this "node" in the hierarchy. In the open model repository the "ITIL Incident Management" contribution is an example for nested models.
In the free text template you have to fill the fields "title" and "body" with your information by using plain text or HTML.

Hint: Instead of typing HTML commands, you may use the Textile input format, which provides a simplified markup language. The Textile documentation explains more about available markup tags and let's you try out its features.

After submitting this page, you should see your entry - either the free text description or the model template - in the repository.

In case you want to nest entries you should create one or more (sub-) pages "under" your newly created root. For this, click on one of the links at the bottom of the page you just created ("Add sub-model"). Again you can choose between using the model template or free text. This way the content you then contribute will be shown as sub-entry of the current model.

When contributing a model by using the model template you can upload certain files associated to this entry. Upload the "graphical representation" of your model as image file in the specific field; it will be shown as image on the resulting page. Source files like e.g. Microsoft Visio files can be uploaded as "file attachment".

Note: Changes made to the attachments are not permanent until you save this post.

After submitting your model page you should be able to see your model description and visualisation. If you have a question or need help, feel free to contact us.
